BIA REMINDS US THAT STEP CHILDREN ARE TREATED
DIFFERENTLY FOR CITIZENSHIP THAN PERMANENT RESIDENCE
A step parent can sponsor a child for permanent
residence but a step child is not a child for
citizenship purposes. A step child must be a
permanent resident for three (3) or five (5)
years, depending, and meet other residency and
character requirements to get citizenship. [See

NATURALIZATION FORM FOR MILITARY TO GET EASIER
& DD FORM 217 Govt
has asked for comments on revised Form N-426
for military naturalization; Also, Foreign Affairs
Manual is revised to allow this form to certify
military or naval service for purposes of naturalization.
